Between Life and Games has moved to self-hosting!

New Between Life and Games Site

Dear friends,

A couple of weeks ago, just in time for Between Life and Games’ first birthday, the site was moved from WordPress.com to self-hosting (using WordPress.org). If you have been a subscriber to the old, WordPress.com site, you’ll need to subscribe again to receive notifications of new posts on the new site, using the form on the top right of the home page.

I have been hard at work adding new and improving existing features in the last days. There is a new, sleeker theme called GamePress. And I have to say that the new site is much better than what it used to be, thanks to the multitude of plugins available once you’re free of the WordPress.com boundaries, and your ability to change anything you want in the code.

Since the move, a few articles and a Final Fantasy VIII review have been published. But the most exciting new feature is the new Between Life and Games forum, which already has a small, but active community, and nearly 1000 posts in just 2 short weeks (not to mention the 3000+ Shoutbox comments). You are more than welcome to join and chat with us on the forum!

Furthermore, there has been a small “paradigm shift” in the site’s philosophy. The most active people on the forum are now able to write for the main site, if and whenever they’d like to do so, with absolutely no obligations to produce any content at all. This gives a chance to the community to contribute, but only contribute if they really feel the desire to, not to feel like it’s their responsibility and even job to do so. You can expect the first article not written by me, a most interesting review from one of our most active forum users, in the coming days!

And remember that this opportunity is always up for grabs – if you’re active on the forum, you’ll certainly be given a chance to have your articles alongside mine and others’ on the main site! So, if you’d like to join in on the fun, all you need to do is register on the forum and participate there.

The website address remains the same it’s always been: http://betweenlifeandgames.com.

E3 2012 Summary

This year’s E3 was spectacularly mediocre, what with many people expecting PS4/Xbox 720 to be unveiled, and they weren’t. Not even Nintendo managed to hype its upcoming Wii U console that well. Nevertheless, a lot of stuff still happened, many new games were shown, and a lot of new information regarding already announced games was revealed. Even if it didn’t meet our expectations, it was still E3… If you’re a gamer, it’s bound to excite you at least a little bit.
